Sun* Đà Nẵng: Buiding better relationship between Developers and QA engineers

The Dev and QA engineers act like Tom and Jerry. How to make their relationship work out?

Let’s accept the fact that "Where there is code, there is a bug". Although the Dev task is to code the application and create the bugs, and the QA’s is to "break the app" and find the bugs from the application, the final goal of these two different tasks is to create the most perfect product to end-users.

People have been circulating a story that is a vicious cycle:

Developers think: ‘How can I make the application?’

Testers think: ‘How can I break the application?’

Suppose that Dev and QA is a love couple, then this problem seems to make their relationship fade. So what is the reason?

Let's reverse the problem a little bit....

Clearly, the developer knows his error if he mastered the technique. So when the product delivered to QA, why it still has many bugs despite having tested the test case and Unit Test successfully?

So the conflict began and the relationship "went down" from there...

Mostly, it's because they didn't understand each other in the first place! In other words, very few Devs can get QA's mindset!

Dev only thinks of stable cases, but QA thinks of the worst cases. That is why the relationship goes down.

There is a stage in testing that the Dev is responsible for unit testing. In order to write proper unit tests, Dev must also use the tester mindset to identify the cases that need to be tested. The ways of programming, TDD and BDD, also generate from the programmers!

So how to make Dev understand QA, communicate with QA more easily, as well as help the two sides "get along" to "create a great product" to end-users?
