Viblo CTF Contest 2020: Have you prepared your "strategy" yet?

After 5 years of operation, with its continuous improvements, Viblo has made a certain mark on the users. Following Viblo Code Contest 2020: Step into the Future, the event series of Viblo’s 5th anniversary entered the second stage with Viblo CTF Contest 2020: Capture the future.

CTF and Viblo CTF - Challenging intellectual game

As a very famous intellectual sport in the world, CTF (Capture the Flag) is also widely known as an information security competition, where players will have to solve various tasks. From the simplest things like collecting information from Wikipedia, or social networking sites, to basic and complex programming exercises. The goal of the player is to find a secret text hidden behind a website, or on a server in many different ways. That secret text is called Flag. That’s why the name of the game is Capture The Flag.

Officially launched on October 3, 2019, Viblo CTF is the 4th piece on Viblo Platform with the goal of becoming "An Ultimate Platform for IT Engineer" . Not only provide many questions in the same format as the world's famous CTF competitions, Viblo CTF also want to bring funny and simple quizes, with many different topics, so that user can have more new, interesting experiences.

From CTF Contest Framgia to Viblo CTF Contest

At Framgia (which is now Sun*), it can be said that Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tiến (R&D Unit) is the "father" of CTF Contest. At first, CTF was just a game he created in his freetime. Compared to the CTF in the world, Mr. Tien has changed the content to be more suitable for Framgia programmers. The game was greatly welcomed by many mem in the company, and later, with the support of Mr. Tran Ba Trong, a competition program which combines Code Contest and CTF was born (with the general name CTF Contest, including 3 parts: Code Contest + CTF Contest + Game Logic). This is also the foundation of the first CTF competitions held in Framgia.

After that, the company's internal CTF Contest format continued to be upgraded to a large-scale contest with the participants of programmers nationwide called Code War, during the end of 2016 to the end of 2017. This contest is an opportunity for programming lovers as well as many IT companies over the country to meet, exchange and learn, thereby  contributing to promote brand awareness of  Framgia. 

Later, when Viblo CTF was born, Sun* CTF Contest was the first Viblo CTF Contest held on Viblo CTF for its members in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City offices at the end of October, 2019. And this year, the Viblo CTF Contest has been extended to all programmers and students over the country.

Viblo CTF Contest 2020: Capture The Future

In order to continue the tradition of the CTF contest as well as celebrate Viblo's 5th anniversary, Viblo CTF Contest 2020 is held as one of three important events to celebrate Viblo's 5th birthday.

Joining Viblo CTF Contest 2020 - Capture The Future, contestants will have to "confront" with many different tasks such as collecting information from Wikipedia or social networking sites, to programming exercises, challenges on computer security in various levels. The contestants' aim is toapply all coding skills, as well as knowledge in the IT field, to find the answer - Flag - in each Puzzle that the organizers offer.

The special thing in this Viblo CTF Contest is that all Puzzles will start with the same number of points, and this score will decrease based on the number of teams that play that Puzzle (ie more teams can solve it, the smaller each team will receive). In addition, there will be bonus points for the fastest team, the runner-up and the second runner-up solve each Puzzle. Each team needs to have a reasonable strategy to win these bonus points to make a difference.  And the specific calculation formula of a Puzzle, as well as the bonus points, will be announced on the day starting the contest!

Besides the first, second and third prizes, CTF Contest also has attractive extra prizes:

Viblo CTF Contest is such an interesting, challenging playground for all individuals who are passionate about technology, especially information security.
