Becoming a project owner by easing away the pain of clients

'Stay Focused' on solving clients' issues to make the best products that can serve the demands of users: this is an advice from speakers of the seminar "Be an owner, not a follower” for Sunners.

Mr. Trần Mạnh Thắng, CEO GetBee - a promising project invested and collaborated by Sun* Startups Studio, is the special guest of the event. What's more, Mr. Bùi Xuân Trung - Section Manager, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Hậu - BrSE, Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Khương - developer EUV3 also had many practical sharings.

As Sun* is becoming a Creative studio, each Sunner must be a contributor. How can Sunners become partners with the clients, not just complete products as required? CEO/ Founder of GetBee - Trần Mạnh Thắng and Mr. Bùi Xuân Trung had many useful sharings and suggestions. This is also a chance for Sunners to follow the steps of a predecessor on the journey of becoming a "business owner" from a "technical guy".

On truly becoming "owners" of their work, Mr. Bùi Xuân Trung mentioned 3 important principles:

  • Be proactive: Don't wait for others to give you commands and follow. Be "proactive" instead of "reactive": Each product developer needs to put effort in putting a stop to problems right before they crop up, not waiting for problems to happen and reacting passively.
  • Eyes on the prize: Make it clear: what are you working for? You need to try your best, stay focused and act with right moral.
  • Overcome your fear: Peole are only afraid of the things they are unsure. For that reason, they need to acquire more knowledge, and be confident with their work.

Mr. Trần Mạnh Thắng also adds: “Before this startup, I am also a pure tech guy. If technical guys only care about product, business guys have much more things to pay attention to. For a product to be made, the business and development team must have thorough research on the market and the partners. Once the product is finished, we need to keep track and make improvements as always. The common question is how to fulfill the demand of users? It is not for clients to pay, but for products to bring values to the society."

For that reason, the developers must now embark on the journey of "seeking client's pain' - their greatest burden that they will be willing to pay and hope for the best solutions from us. This is one of the most discussed topics among audience and speakers.

It became clearer, as speakers presented case studies from GetBee and the pioneer of the campaign “Be an owner, not a follower" of Unit 3. Sunners can now realize that as a product maker, each developer must have client-oriented mindset - understanding problems they have, the goal of the product, related app market, so they can provide the best solutions. Also, developers should provide professional suggestions for clients as a creator, instead of a manufacturer.

We hope that seminar “Be a business owner, not a follower” will provide many useful suggestions that Sunners can apply in the future.
